Most of my art revolves around my travel. I find inspiration in the natural beauty and cultural uniqueness of the Americas. For 40 years, we have enjoyed almost yearly trips to Latin America. My background in biology immediately draws me to the wildlife, and in recent years I have concentrated on photographing birds wherever we go. Observing, photographing and painting a bird showing its natural setting is an extremely satisfying process and lets me relive the travel experience long after returning home.
A significant part of my art education took place in England when I was able to see some of J.M.W. Turner’s original travel sketchbooks. Today, I am never without my sketchbook and have used many entries as the basis for complete paintings.
I sincerely hope you enjoy viewing the people, places and wildlife that I find to be inspiring and challenging.
